Physics Degree Programs

Join us as we explore the world and the universe with our BS programs in Physics and Astronomy! Our small class sizes, interactive classroom experiences, engaging mentorship, and internship opportunities make our graduates ready to push the boundaries of physics and the galaxy! Our graduates have gone on to create their own businesses, teach at Ivy League universities, and work in the medical field at the Mayo Clinic. The Department also offers opportunities for graduate study through the interdisciplinary MS program in Materials Science and Engineering.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics

The 成人AV视频 Bachelor of Science in Physics program focuses on preparing graduates for employment in a wide array of technical and non-technical fields or for graduate studies. The department offers the following tracks within the Physics major:

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Astronomy

Join the first cohort as this program launches in Fall 2025! The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Astronomy is an engaging and comprehensive degree that prepares students for a variety of careers. The courses cover a wide range of topics, including the study of celestial objects such as stars, planets, and galaxies, as well as the physical laws that govern the universe. Students gain a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and computational techniques, essential for understanding and conducting research in astronomy. Additionally, this program offers hands-on experience through observational astronomy and research projects, allowing students to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Graduates with a BS in Astronomy can pursue careers in scientific research, education, science communication, and various technology-related fields.

Master of Science (MS) in Materials Science and Engineering

A number of Physics faculty are part of 成人AV视频's interdisciplinary MS degree program in Materials Science and Engineering, which is offered through a partnership between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction. More information about this master's program can be found at /mse/. We also offer an Accelerated Pathway that allows undergraduate Physics majors to begin taking graduate coursework for the master's degree during their senior year.

Minor in Physics

The department also offers a minor in Physics. The minor can be used to complement a wide-range of majors for the purposes of complementing or rounding out studies in another area.
